We completed our 10th year of publishing and distributing football coaching podcasts
for CompuSports Radio in 2019, but have been on hiatus
since that time, although we have made a few required
security updates to our site. Our plan is to
continue to maintain this site and our podcast hosting
account as long as there is interest from our
listeners.
If you are a current or former football coach and are
either just getting started with podcasting or looking
to expand your audience, you may want to
Contact Us and learn about our free syndication service
that lets you focus on
producing your podcast without the hassle of publishing
and distributing it.
Our most recent show, This
Week in College Football, - a slight
departure from past shows had broad audience appeal to
"serious" football fans along with football coaches.
This
Week in College Football was hosted by Tony
DeMeo, who was a guest on a number of Coaches Corner and Mesh
Point shows, and later hosted our Chalk Talk
series. In this podcast, Coach DeMeo took a look at the big games
in College Football each week from a coach's
perspective.
Game reviews included a discussion of whether and how Meaningful Stats
influenced the results of the featured games (Coach
DeMeo explained his Meaningful Stats concept in his
first appearance
on Coaches Corner in Volume 72 ).
We opened our final year of producing our own podcasts with a new show
- a 9 part series from the co-founders of
the Surface to Air system - The S2A podcast with Rich Hargitt and Rick Butler.
In this show,Rich and Rick shared their thoughts on RPO's, Spread Offenses, and overall offensive football. Rich and Rick bring the listener inside their "football talk" as they go about their day.
We expect to resume our syndication of shows like this
one, as we move forward with the concept of
CompuSports Radio as both a pioneer, producer and
promote of football coaching podcasts - what we
originally thought of as Talk Radio for Football
Coaches.
A recapt of the S2A Podcast series
In Episode 9 of the S2A Podcast - the final show, the
topic was Air Raid 3.0. This is Part 3 of the mini-series on
the evolution of the Air Raid and bring us to Air Raid 3.0 and the present day. As Coach Hargitt explains, Air Raid 3.0 is a full merger of Air Raid passes
with the Zone Read Option. Rick and Rich discuss the attributes of a 3.0 Air Raid based offense.
In Episode 8, of the S2A Podcast, Rick and Rich continue to discuss the evolution of the Air Raid attack. The is the 2nd podcast
of the series, and takes the listener/coach to Air Raid 2.0 - with its more balanced run game, some RPO's ,
more screens, quicks, no-huddle, and some formational changes.
In Episode 7, Coach Hargitt began the 3 part podcast series on the evolution of the Air Raid Offense.
This podcast starts with Air Raid 1.0. Air Raid 1.0 (the past) emphasized throwing the ball, not much in the run game, no RPO's, and
not much value on time management or balance. 1.0 was of course started by Hal Mumme and Mike Leach. Look for episodes 8 and 9 as we
discuss the ever evolving Air Raid. To its 2.0 evolution, and then to where it is today in Surface to Air System with 3.0.
In Episode 6 of the Surface to Air System Podcast the topic is The S2A 7 day Spring install. Today Rich Hargitt will go into the "how's and "whys" of installing 95% of the Surface to Air System offense in Spring..
In Episode 5 of the Surface to Air System Podcast Coach Hargitt breaks down the S2A Snag route, a staple of the Air-Raid Quick game, and a S2A core
concept in its RPO's. Take a deep dive into the intricacies of this route concept and add it to your attack this Spring.
In Episode 4, S27, GPS, and The S2A Clinic S2A Podcast Episode 4 - S27, GPS, and The S2A Clinic : In this episode of the Surface to Air System Podcast Rich and Rick discuss a better way to do 7 on 7, it's called S27
and then get into the tenets of their new book: Game Practice System: An Innovative Restructuring of American Football Practices.
They finish the episode by previewing their upcoming National RPO Clinic. Coaches can find out more about the
Clinic at www.nationalrpoclinic.com
In Episode 2, Giving the QB the car keys to the Offense
Rich and Rick Butler discuss "allowing your QB to have concept autonomy in the game"
and Rich details his "secret sauce" - the how's and why's he allows his HS QB to control the concept(s) within a game.
In the first Episode
of the S2A Podcast, the topics include What is and isn't an RPO?
and why were the two called "Snake oil salesmen"?
This podcast is both engaging and provocative, and the
second topic along with the discussion by Rick and
Rich reminds us of
this famous quote by Teddy Roosevelt that begins with
"It is not the critic who counts.."
