After producing nearly 100 Coaches Corner shows (including the Mesh Point Edition for Option Central), it is regret that we say farewell to its Host and Producer, John Anderson. We gave some thought to finding a new host for Coaches Corner, but decided, in the end, that this body of work was special, unique and deserving of a place in the history of football coaching podcasts.

We remain committed to the concept of podcasting as an alternative form of coaching education, and encourage inquiries from prospective Hosts and Producers who would like to have their own show without dealing with the complexities of the business and technical end of operating a podcast. Our final two shows enabled us to "finish the game", and the season in a fitting fashion, and while we only produced two shows, our four guests provide "4 quarters" worth of great material.  We are hoping to be back soon with another great series of podcasts for football coaches.

In our final edition of Coaches Corner, the topic was Recruiting.  The show features two College Head Football Coaches John Bland of Mississippi College (Division II - Gulf Coast Conference) and Ralph Insernia of RPI College (Division III - Liberty League), as well as a long time HS Football Coach - Bill Mountjoy. Coaches Bland and Isernia discuss their philosophy and approach to recruiting football players while Mountjoy shares experiences from his years interacting with recruiters while a HS Football Coach. Bland and Mountjoy were previous guests on Coaches Corner.

In the previous edition of Coaches Corner, a pair of Defensive Coordinators and past Guests on the show returned to talk about the 3-4 Defense that continues to grow in popularity.  Coaches Shaun Weaver of Gettysburg College and Scott Cramer of Verona (WI) H.S. discussed their approach to the 3-4 Defense, covering topics such as  Defensive Line play, Zone Blitz concepts, Pass Coverages philosophy, and a Circuit Drill to sharpen Blitz techniques.

Shows 84 and 85 reflect our new format that features multiple guests speaking on a common theme, and a single sponsor.

2014 - The Year in Review

In our final show of 2014, the topic was leadership, as Tony DeMeo discussed his new book, Commonsense Rules for Everyday Leaders with Host John Anderson. Listen to the Host and Guest discuss The Wizard of Oz rule, The Rotten Pumpkin rule, the Ferris Wheel rule, The King Kong rule, and the Joe Dimaggio rule and others that can be applied to everyday life by everyday people who find themself in a leadership position. A frequent guest on the show, Coach DeMeo last appeared on Coaches Corner in our 2014 College Football Preview, in which he talked about the teams that he was most looking forward to see play this past season.  A bit of a departure from our normal format, this entertaining show, like all 80+ others in this series, was Hosted and Produced by John Anderson in his usual professional and entertaining style. Previously on Coaches Corner in 2014, Coach Marcus Mayo, currently an Assistant Coach at South Dakota School of Mines, Rapid City, SD where he coaches Defensive Back, draws on his experience playing and coaching on the Offensive side of the ball in a discussion of the concept of "mindful quarterbacking" - an approach to developing quarterbacks.

Coach DeMeo helped us kick off 2014, our 5th season, with a great show in which he discussed a number of off-the field, program building topics, the prior College and NFL seasons, and the changing nature of offensive football.  The show wrapped up with an overview of the Triple Gun Offense and how Coach DeMeo created a system around simplicity and "interchangeable" positions, particularly on the Offensive Line. Listen Now;

Next up was Chris Fore, veteran Athletic Director and Head Football Coach from Southern California. Fore and Host John Anderson discussed the roles that the Shield Punt, Wing T Offense - particularly the Jet and Fly Sweeps, and the Easy-Scout game analysis software played in his formula for rebuilding HS Football programs . Fore also talked about the extensive research that contributed to his latest book BUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER FOOTBALL PROGRAMS - a book in which he talked with over 100 highly successfull football coaches from around the country about their own formula for success. Coaches Corner shows cover general football coaching topics, while The Mesh Point edition of Coaches Corner focuses on option football.   We continue to reach back into the "vault" of our early Coaches Corner shows, adding them into our modern audio player and iTunes library.
