Coaches' Corner Volume 78:
Coach Shaun Weaver, Defensive Coordinator at Gettysburg College, visits with Host John Anderson to talk about Linebacker Blitz Technique,
Zone Blitz Concepts,
Attacking Pass Protection schemes, and more.
Coach Weaver, now entering his 7th year as the
Gettysburg
College
Defensive Coordinator (he also coaches LB's),
utilizes an attack-style, multiple-front
Defense that combines 3 and 4 man line looks up front
with just a few coverages. The aggressive defensive
philosophy helped to propel the Bullet Defense to its
best defensive showing in recent years during the
2012 campaign.

and Implementing The Zone Blitz
Serving as Defensive Coordinator on a team best known
for its fast-paced, high scoring Offense, Weaver's attack-style Defense enabled the Bullet
Defense to finish among the conference leaders in numerous defensive categories, including pass defense (second, 182.5 ypg), scoring defense (third, 19.9 ppg), and total defense (third, 316.5 ypg) en route to a 7-3 season - the team's best record since 1994. Under Weaver,
the 2012 Bullet Defense held four opponents to seven
points or less, posted its first shutout in eight years,
and kept games close on a number of occasions until the
Bullett Offense shifted into high gear.
Prior to his arrival at Gettysburg, Weaver served as the defensive line coach at Bemidji State University in Minnesota from 2004-05. He also spent two seasons coaching the defensive line and serving as the junior varsity defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Wilmington College in Ohio, from 2002-03. Weaver holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from Wilmington College, one in secondary education/social studies licensure, and one in history.
and a Master's Degree in Sports Sudies from Bemidji
State University (MN).
