About the Guest on this Edition of Coaches Corner
Coach John Bland
completed his fifth season in 2010 as the Head Coach at the
University of the Cumberlands.
His coaching background includes five years as the
quarterbacks coach at NCAA Division I-A Rice University
under Coach Ken Hatfield, and six at Southern Arkansas University,
where was as an assistant coach from 1994-1999 and the
school's head coach in 2000.
Coach Bland was an
assistant coach at Central High School in Columbia, TN
and a graduate assistant at Auburn University, where he worked as a graduate assistant under Pat Dye. Bland
was a 4 year letterman at Quarterback at the University of Arkansas ,
where he helped the Razorbacks to four consecutive bowl appearances in the Holiday, Liberty, Orange, and Cotton Bowls.
